It’s obviously a fairly incendiary title for a blog post, but one that I feel is for the most part true. My thoughts on this were sparked by a blog post by Brad Guigar over on Webcomics.com called Writer’s Block: It’s a Myth where Brad muses in a straightforward way that writer’s block is not […]
Another reason to love Twitter: the randomness of cartoonists
A good number of popular webcartoonists have Twitter accounts these days. I follow a small sampling of these excellent creative individuals, and happened to catch onto something marvelous that came absolutely out of nowhere today. Rene Engstrom, the Swedish creator of the comic Anders Loves Maria, posted a tweet this afternoon: Ok Twitter! I’m taking […]
Skull leaving PvP?
And just 3 months later, it happens, just as I (and likely many others) predicted. Skull appears to be preparing to leave the PvP offices for good. Now, I can tell you right now that there is no way in hell Kurtz is actually going to allow his fuzzy, silly comedic foil to simply disappear […]
Barry Smith brings back InkTank
I missed the news when it was first announced, but caught it on ComixTalk last week: Barry Smith is sporting a return to webcomics in the form of InkTank. Back when I was first covering webcomics back in the 1998-2002 timeframe, I was good friends with a number of cartoonists that have since fallen off […]
Talk about a shake up
Scott Kurtz appears to be true to his word when he said that he was planning to shake things up in the PvP universe, and that things might not be the same when all was said and done. This must be how it begins. The way I figure it is that Skull must be some […]
Ding! Back!
Looks like Scott made a decision, and Ding! will return to the web sometime soon. However, instead of being a Sunday feature on PvP, it’s going to be a Tuesday/Thursday feature over at a new gaming site called Crispy Gamer. Huzzah!
Possible return of Ding!?
Scott Kurtz has gotten re-addicted to World of Warcraft, and in his obviously raid-induced state of clouded thought, is considering resurrecting his old MMO-based single-panel comic Ding! as a Sunday color feature. Please join me in letting Scott know that anything new from him is welcome in our cozy little webcomic universe.
Halfpixel doubles
Wow. I never saw this coming. It was one thing when Scott Kurtz announced that he and Kris Straub’s business-oriented “How to Make Webcomics” book was going to be written by all four of the webcomics horsemen, but now Brad Guigar and Dave Kellet have left Blank Label and joined Kris and Scott at Halfpixel […]
Sheldon Wii comic
Dave Kellett demonstrates why I love Sheldon with a great reference to the Wii in today’s comic. I know I’ve broken several unspoken rules about thumbnailing giveaway panels of webcomics, but even though this is the “punchline” panel, the preceding three panels are even better than the last.
New webcomic posted today
I know that I “retired” from webcomickry over at Evil Avatar Comics, but I just can’t stay away. I have an itch to create poorly drawn comics, and I find that I can only do that in the relative safety of the Evil Avatar community. So, I created a new comic, called Metroid Concepts in […]
