{"id":2027,"date":"2007-08-10T07:44:22","date_gmt":"2007-08-10T13:44:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nerdflood.com\/2007\/08\/10\/august-the-month-of-metroid\/"},"modified":"2007-08-10T07:44:22","modified_gmt":"2007-08-10T13:44:22","slug":"august-the-month-of-metroid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nathanielpayne.com\/blog\/august-the-month-of-metroid\/","title":{"rendered":"August: the month of Metroid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was reading an interesting editorial over on IGN from Matt Casamassina discussing the <a href=\"http:\/\/wii.ign.com\/articles\/811\/811682p1.html\">complete absence of hype and\/or marketing<\/a> for the upcoming <em>Metroid Prime 3: Corruption<\/em>. I thought it was a great read, especially considering we are less than 3 weeks away from MP3&#8217;s launch, and Nintendo hasn&#8217;t even bothered to update the official <a href=\"http:\/\/metroid.com\">Metroid.com<\/a> website with any mention of MP3&#8217;s existence. I was prepared to write up a blog post agreeing with Casamassina&#8217;s contempt for Nintendo&#8217;s apparent lack of MP3 love.<\/p>\n<p>But then, <em>today happened<\/em>. What does today bring? Oh, nothing much. Just a brand new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.evilavatar.com\/forums\/showthread.php?t=34072\">Wii Channel you can download<\/a> that has videos, screenshots, and information about MP3. Oh, and word comes down from on high that both the original NES <em>Metroid<\/em> as well as the SNES <em>Super Metroid<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.joystiq.com\/2007\/08\/10\/august-brings-metroid-and-super-metroid-to-virtual-console\/\">will be released this month<\/a>. Not only that, but the official <a href=\"http:\/\/metroid.com\">Metroid.com<\/a> website has just been updated with a new splash screen displaying MP3 and a little news bit about the new downloadable Wii Channel.<\/p>\n<p>The irony is deliciously <em>brilliant<\/em>.
